What a great trip across Canada ~ what super fun to play along the way in Sudbury, Thunderbay, Steinbach, Edmonton and Calgary! Thanks everyone who came out to my shows!
Now I’m home. I arrived a few days ago safely back in the Cariboo, here in British Columbia. A pick up truck’s worth of cardboard boxes now sitting in the basement – site of my was-future now-present home office/play room. I’m facing the daunting task of unpacking my knickknacks and finding places for them in my new space. We’ve been separated by over six months of storage; it’s like Christmas in spring unwrapping all these treasures from their newspapers. My cherub sculpture! My tree lamp! The bee prints I made as the first draft of ETSWF’s album cover. So many things for me to discover and reflect on. So, it may be quiet around here for a little bit while I organize my life here. I’ll try to take some pics of my favourite things and post them soon.
I have a few shows coming up in the next months — the first one is a show celebrating an art opening by Caroline Anders and Paula Scott on June 4th at the Sunset Theatre in Wells BC. I’ll get more details about this and other shows and get back to you soon about that.
Meanwhile, I want to say hello to everyone who is new to my music – maybe you discovered it through the Degrassi episode a few weeks ago, or maybe you stumbled across this place via random links. Glad you’re here! Have a look around!
PS, I noticed someone was asking about finding chords for my song, Be My Girl. I will do my best to post those here in the next couple of weeks, cuz I’d love to hear your covers of my tune! Reply-post your versions on youtube on my Be My Girl video, if you are so inspired!
Now to unpack…

I’m making the big move to BC from Toronto! We’re driving across Canada in a pickup truck teeming with books and knickknacks (plaster cherub, tree-lamp! All the things that make a place home.) It’s been awhile since I’ve made the Transcanada trek, and what better time to stop in communities I rarely get to go to. So I’ve booked a mini-tour!
New dates across Canada in the next week: Thunderbay, Edmonton and Calgary. Check tour dates for details!
In honour of the recent Degrassi episode, here’s a repost of the music video we made for “Be My Girl”!
A few weeks ago I mentioned my song Be My Girl would appear on Degrassi: The Next Generation sometime in the future, yes? Guess what!? It aired last night (Friday April 8th) on Much Music and syndicated stations across the world!!
Now in its thirtieth season, Degrassi – the critically acclaimed teen drama – follows a group of students at Degrassi Community School who face various challenges like poor self image, peer pressure, child abuse, sexual identity, gang violence, self-injury, teenage pregnancy, and drug abuse. In this episode: Fiona comes out, among other plot threads.
Watch the Degrassi episode online! ~ Ep. 1042: Chasing Pavements Part Two. My song soundtracks the opening sequence.
While you’re at it, check out my “Be My Girl: official music video” on youtube!
Today I’m packing my suitcase for a three-week trip across Canada from BC’s Cariboo to the west end of Toronto and back again. We’re taking a pickup truck through the mountains and the prairies and the spring shores of the great lakes to load up with the last of the material things that tie me to Ontario. Gonna be a BC girl! I’m looking forward to experiencing this beautiful expanse at an almost human pace… five days each way… it imparts a greater sense of the size of Canada when you drive it verses the surreal pace of an airplane.
Of course I couldn’t help booking a few shows on the trip back… Sudbury on Sunday April 17th, a stop in Thunderbay on Tuesday the 19th to do an interview / play on-air at the campus station there. I’ll be in Calgary Sunday the 24th, and I’m in the process of confirming a Winnipeg show too. Look for last minute updates for details… *note: turns out the Winnipeg show will be a private function, not open to the public. sorry! But, I promise to come back to the Peg as soon as I can!* (posted april 9th)
Meanwhile, every day I will do my best to find internet connections en route so that I can keep posting my photo – a – day on my blog. Today’s photo is from my Homeroutes tour across Alberta last fall. I stopped in East Coulee to take in the miner’s museum.
