Spring Dozen

Make that twelve shows! We added another show on April 27th in Papendrecht in the Netherlands. Given that it is King’s Day it might be more of a party than a concert ;). Thought we’d let you know things are happening here in Europe.

There are shows in Dusseldorf, Kaiserslautern, Dordrecht, Utrecht, Antwerpen, Papendrecht, Lausanne and Weesp!

And while we’re at it, let’s point out a very special concert on Thursday April 21st in Music Making People’s Studios in Dusseldorf, Germany: we are live film / audio recording the show. Spring Tour in Europe!

Gosh! Can’t believe I fly to Europe again one week from today!!! Eleven shows starting April 15th in Dusseldforf ending May 6th in Lausanne Switzerland and May 8th in Amsterdam. Yippee!

New Homemade Music Video!

It has been awhile since my last addition to the Homemade Music Video Project. Yesterday I was inspired to make another one, though not for the cheeriest reasons. The topic of relationship violence is all over the internet here in Canada because the Jian Ghomeshi verdict came in on Friday March 25th.

I dug back into my old catalogue and pulled out the song Movie from my 2005 album “Hearts Fall”. Movie is a metaphorical look at relationship violence. I spent many hours playing and replaying the song as I edited together the video and I am saddened to realize that the topic remains as relevant as when I wrote it.

Images come from a Europe tour in the fall of 2014. A Christmas market in Austria, an u-bahn in Germany, I believe.

As you may know, this month I’ve been buckled down in my studio under my loft writing songs as part of the world-wide February Album Writing Month (FAWM) songwriting challenge.

Is it foolish to want to share something so tender and new? (I wrote yesterday afternoon and recorded yesterday after dinner) I’m going to do it anyways cuz I am really excited by this newest song and all the new songs I’ve been writing this month. And isn’t love tender and foolish, anyways?

And so it starts… “When a broken heart can’t be fixed, turn it into art…”
